Atlas launch complex. Originally an Atlas 576 SMS ICBM pad. Operational 26 October 1962 - 5 August 1965. Site of the first Vandenberg ICBM launch. Used for missile tests and training Oct 26, 1962 to Aug 5, 1965; then used for space program from Apr 6, 1968 to Sep 8, 1974. Decommissioned / Stripped. Upgraded for use as ABRES re-entry vehicle test program pad in 1965, and for BMRS program in 1971.

A SAC crew conducted the first west coast launch of an Atlas operational configuration missile, 12D, from Vandenberg AFB, to a target near Wake Island, Afterward, General Thomas S. Power, CINCSAC, declared the Atlas system to be operational. This marked the attainment of operational status for the Atlas one year earlier than the six years that the von Neumann Committee had projected in its February 1954 report.

Launched from Vandenberg AFB atop Atlas booster 150F, the third Maneuvering Ballistic Reentry Vehicle (MBRV-3) achieved the first successful flight and reentry of a maneuvering ballistic reentry vehicle in the Advanced Ballistic Reentry Systems (ABRES) program. MBRV-3 successfully accomplished its planned terminal maneuver during reentry, and all objectives were achieved.
