The Aalborg University Space Center was a virtual enterprise, a gateway to activities at Aalborg University's Faculty of Engineering and Science. The Center coordinated the university's space-related research, education and publicity, both internally and with external partners. This extended from public outreach activities to the construction and launch of small scientific satellites.

Projects included the AAU Cubesat, launched in 2003; participation in the SSETI Express satellite, launched in 2005, for which students of Aalborg university delivered the on-board computer, attitude and determination system, the camera payload, and the primary ground station; and the AAUSAT II successor to the AAU Cubesat, begun in 2003 and planned for launch in 2008.
