Poppy
American military naval signals reconnaissance satellite series, launched 1962-1971. It evolved from the simple Grab satellite, but was launched in pairs, triplets, or quadruplets in order to localize the source of electronic emissions detected. Led to the NOSS production satellite series.
First Launch: 1962-12-13. Last Launch: 1971-12-14. Number: 24 . Gross mass: 83 kg (182 lb).
The official history and even name of the satellite was not declassified until 2012. Even then, most of the information was redacted.
