MOBEV R1B
American manned lunar rover. Study 1966. Early manned operations would utilize the basic Apollo LM or an augmented version of it. The augmented version would a small mobility unit.
Status: Study 1966.
The mobility unit was dependent upon the shelter for recharge capability and could accommodate a single astronaut plus a small scientific payload.
In addition to the reconnaissance capability the vehicle could be used as a "pack mule" by replacing the astronaut with additional payload (emplaced scientific station) and manually controlled by an astronaut walking alongside.
