Energia Geostationary Platform
Russian earth land resources satellite. Study 1984. Energia could place observation platforms of 18 to 21 metric tons in geostationary orbit.

Status: Study 1984. Gross mass: 18,000 kg (39,000 lb).

These platforms would provide continuous multispectral monitoring of the surface in the visual, ultraviolet, and infrared bands. Any environmental changes could be noted and radio and laser links used to command low orbit satellites to take a detailed look at the problem.
