American industrialist, headed General Electric and worked with Truman's Office of Defense Mobilization in the 1950s.

Born: 1886. Died: 1972-01-01.

Called "Electric Charlie" to distinguish him from "Engine Charlie" - the head of General Motors, who served as Eisenhower's Secretary of Defense just a few years later.
