American manned spacecraft. Study 2004. X-Prize suborbital ballistic spacecraft concept of American Astronautics Corporation, Oceanside, California.

Status: Study 2004. Thrust: 88.20 kN (19,828 lbf). Gross mass: 4,500 kg (9,900 lb). Height: 12.80 m (41.90 ft). Diameter: 0.90 m (2.95 ft).

The Spirit of Liberty was a concept of Bill Sprague of the American Astronautics Corporation, Oceanside, California. The concept used a rocket powered vertical takeoff launch and parachute landing on water. The Spirit of Liberty was seen as an interim step leading to a Sprague's design for a commercial space tourism vehicle capable of carrying 30 passengers.
