Official Chinese Academy of Sciences Biography

Aeronautical engineering specialist. Born in Fuzhou, Fujian Province. Received BS from Tsinghua University in 1937 and MS from MIT, USA in 1939. Professor and senior technical advisor, China Aerospace Corporation.

In the 1960s, Liang invented a double layer metal container and prepared a substitute for certain kinds of liquid fuel used in liquid rocket engines, which was of great economic and strategic importance by that time. He served as the chief designer of anti-ship missiles and solved a number of technical problems in the R&D of the said weapons. His design has provided the navy with domestically made sophisticated weapons and is also exported to friendly countries.

He was elected Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1980.
