German rocket engineer; developed with Thiel in Berlin in the 1930's the theoretical basis of rocket combustion and developed rocket engine test and measurement systems.

Born: 1911. Died: 1945-05-01.

Heinz-Otto Glimm was a close friend of Prof. Karl Erich Schumann at the Germany Army's Research Insitute at the University of Berlin and the godfather of his daughter Sigrid. Thiel worked with Glimm on the first research there into the combustion processes of the liquid rocket. In 1935 they built the first concrete test stands at the Kummersdorf-East rocket proving ground outside Berline. They also developed the measurement techniques that allowed the systematic analysis of rocket engine test results.
