Cai Jintao (Tsai Chai-Tao)

Telecommunication engineering specialist. Born in Nantong, Jiangsu Province. Graduated from Shanghai Jiaotong University in 1931. Received MS from Harvard University, USA in 1935. Technological advisor and research professor, China Aerospace Corporation, and member, Science and Technology Committee of the Corporation.

Cai was long engaged in scientific research on telecommunication engineering and electromagnetic metering and greatly improved research in these fields. He was the first in China to develop and fabricate transistor pulse multi-channel talk prototype machine, laying the foundation for Chinese microwave relay pulse multi-channel communication system. He made important contributions to the development of China's space aeronautics undertakings.

He was elected Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1980.
