Objectives of the fifth manned Dynasoar single-orbit flight were to demonstrate reuse of a minimally-refurbished spacecraft flown on an earlier mission. On orbit use of visual references to control attitude and tests of control and navigation systems would be conducted. During re-entry performance, dynamic stability, and aerothermal maneuver using the reused glider would be checked.
