Northrop LSS Lunar Rover RV3 RV4

American lunar rover. Study 1963. The unmanned portion of the January 1963 Northrop Lunar Logistic System had 4 articulated wheels and a range of 240 km.

The RV3 was convertible to manned type vehicle and designed for exploration on most type surfaces. The RV4 version was also convertible, but was designed for cargo handling and surface movement type tasks. It used a special 150 cm diameter wheel.

Gross mass: 680 kg (1,490 lb).
