Astronaut Career

Astronaut Group: Almaz Engineer Group 2 - 1973. Inactive Entered space service: 27 March 1973. Left space service: 8 April 1987. Trained for a TKS flight to the Almaz military space station.

Sector Head, NPO Mashinostroyeniye. From worked at GKNPTs Khrunishchev.


Yuyukov Chronology

27 March 1973 - Almaz Engineer Cosmonaut Training Group 2 selected.. The group was selected to provide flight engineers for planned Almaz military space station missions.


1981 Middle of - TKS-2 (cancelled). Second TKS flight that would have docked with the cancelled Almaz OPS 4 military space station. The spacecraft was instead flown unmanned to Salyut 7 as Cosmos 1443.
1981 Late - TKS-3 (cancelled). Third TKS flight that would have docked with the cancelled Almaz OPS 4 military space station. The spacecraft was instead flown unmanned to Salyut 7 as Cosmos 1686.
Late 1982 - Salyut 7/TKS-2 (cancelled). Following the cancellation of the Almaz military station it was still planned that two of the TKS ferries would be flown manned to Salyut stations. In September/October 1979 three crews were formed. In December 1981 Ustinov killed Chelomei's plans for manned TKS flights. The TKS training group was dissolved and TKS-2 flew unmanned to Salyut 7 as Cosmos 1443.
During 1983 - Salyut 7/TKS-3 (cancelled). Planned second manned flight of TKS ferry to the Salyut 7 space station. The crews were assigned in September/October 1979.
