James R Schlesinger American Manager. Born 1929.

Personal: Male. Born in USA.

James R. Schlesinger served in numerous governmental positions during the 1960s and 1970s. After a career at the University of Virginia, 1955-1963, and RAND Corporation between 1963 and 1969, he went to the Bureau of the Budget/Office of Management and Budget, 1969-1971. He also served as chair of the Atomic Energy Commission, 1971-1973, and Secretary of Defense, 1973-1975. In 1977 he was appointed head of the newly created Department of Energy.
