Yuri Anatoyevich Ponomaryov Russian Engineer Cosmonaut. Born 24 March 1932. Died 16 April 2005. Was married to astronaut Valentina Ponomaryova.

Personal: Male, Married, three children. Born in Kadaya, Russia. Natural causes. Korolev Design Bureau Graduated from Moscow Aviation Institute with a pilot-engineer's degree, 1957 Civilian Engineer, Korolev OKB.

Astronaut Career

Astronaut Group: Energia Engineer Group 3 - 1972. Deceased Entered space service: 22 March 1972. Left space service: 11 April 1983. Trained for a Salyut mission with Klimuk / Kovalyonok 1971-1975. Trained for a Salyut 6 mission with Dedkov 1975-1977. Departed program for medical reasons.

Worked for the Russian government.

Died in Kadaya, Russia.

22 March 1972 - Energia Engineer Cosmonaut Training Group 3 selected..


24 May 1975 - Soyuz 18. Manned two crew. Docked with Salyut 4. Joint experiments with the Salyut scientific orbital station. The crew remained aloft aboard the station during the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project joint flight.
