Hugh Odishaw became assistant to the director of the National Bureau of Standards 1946-1954, served as executive director of the U.S. National Committee for the International Geophysical Year from 1954-1965, and then became the executive secretary of the division of physical sciences in the National Academy of Sciences, 1966-1972.
