Chappell, Charles Richard (1943-) American physicist payload specialist astronaut, 1985-1992.

Bachelor of arts in physics from the Vanderbilt University, 1965. Ph.D. in space science from the Rice University, Texas, 1969. Worked for NASA's Marshall Spaceflight Center. Scientific Payload Specialist Selection 6 in 1985. From 1995, a Director at NASA MSFC. From 1999 Division of Media Relations, Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee.

Birth Place: Greenville, South Carolina.
