Russian surface-to-air missile. In 1979-1980 studies began on the long-term improvement of the Strela-10 system. These were aimed at improving the missile's capability, at integrating the vehicle into the air defence system of the army corps, and allow the vehicle to amphibiously cross water obstacles with the full complement of 8 missiles. The resulting Strela-10M2, after completion of state trials, entered production in 1981.
