Privacy Policy

Last updated: 24 October 2026

This policy explains what personal information Encyclopedia Astronautica collects, why, and what you can do about it.

Who we are

Encyclopedia Astronautica (astronautix.com) is operated and published by Brown Brothers Media Pte. Ltd., 61 Robinson Road, #07-01, Singapore 068893 ("we", "us"). We are the controller of personal information collected through this site. Contact us about privacy at [email protected].

What we collect

  • Information collected automatically when you visit: your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, time spent, how you arrived (for example, from a search engine), and an approximate location derived from your IP address. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies.
  • Information you send us: if you email us, we receive your name, email address and whatever you include in your message.

We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.

How we use it

  • To run the site and keep it secure.
  • To understand which articles readers find useful, using analytics.
  • To show advertising, which pays for the site. Where you consent, ads may be personalised based on your browsing.
  • To reply to your emails and handle corrections or requests.
  • To meet legal obligations.

Our legal bases (UK and EU visitors)

  • Consent for analytics and advertising cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time through the Privacy settings link in our footer.
  • Legitimate interests for running and securing the site and replying to messages.
  • Legal obligation where the law requires us to keep or share information.

Who we share it with

We don't sell your personal information for money. However, some advertising cookies may count as "selling" or "sharing" under certain US state laws, and you can opt out as described below. We share personal information with:

  • Advertising partners: Adnimation and Taboola, and the advertising companies they work with, which may use cookies to show and measure ads. Google's consent message lists these partners and lets you choose which to allow.
  • Analytics: Plausible Analytics, a privacy-focused analytics service that does not use cookies.
  • Service providers: BigScoots (web hosting), Cloudflare (content delivery and security), and Google (consent management, through Google's consent message).
  • Authorities where the law requires it.

Some of these providers are outside the UK and EU. Where personal information is transferred, it's protected by safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

  • Analytics data: only as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected.
  • Emails: as long as needed to deal with your message, and for legal, security, accounting, and dispute-resolution requirements.
  • Advertising cookies: as set by each advertising partner and described in Google's consent message.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • access the personal information we hold about you;
  • correct or delete it;
  • object to or restrict how we use it;
  • withdraw consent at any time;
  • receive a copy of your data in a portable format.

UK and EU residents can complain to their data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office).

California and other US state residents: you can opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for targeted advertising through the Privacy settings link in our footer or by emailing us. Where applicable law requires us to recognise an opt-out preference signal such as Global Privacy Control, we will treat a valid signal as a request to opt out for that browser or device.

To use any of these rights, email [email protected]. We respond within the period required by applicable law.
