American engineer payload specialist astronaut, 1983-1985.
Bachelor of science in engineering science from Florida State University, 1969. Ph.D. in metallurgical engineering from the University of Florida, Gainesville, 1973. Worked at Marshall Spaceflight Center. Scientific Payload Specialist Selection 3 in 1984. Named as Alternate Payload Specialist (together with Eugene Trinh) to Taylor Wang and Van den Berg for Shuttle Flight STS-51B / Spacelab-3. Unsuccessful applicant for NASA astronaut Group 9. Worked at the Tennessee Space Institute.
