Personal: Female. Reported killed in a test of a winged rocket-powered aircraft in 1959. Astronaut Career Astronaut Group: Phantom Cosmonaut. In December 1959, the Italian news agency Continentale reported that a series of cosmonaut deaths on suborbital flights had been revealed by a high-ranking Czech communist. Among these was a woman, said to have flown some sort of 'space airplane' into oblivion. No evidence ever surfaced in post-Glasnost Russia to back up the claim.
